VMA Dance Teachers

Miss Victoria Freeman-White

Principal & Teacher

Miss Vicky established VMA Dance in 2012 after she graduated from Italia Conti Arts Centre with a three-year Performance Arts Diploma. During this time Miss Vicky attained her Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) Diploma in Dance Education (DDE) in Ballet, Tap and Modern Theatre. Alongside her ISTD training Miss Vicky also holds a Professional Certificate in Education (PCE) with the University of Greenwich. She is also registered to enter candidates for exams with the British Theatre Dance Association (BTDA).

Whilst at college, Vicky taught at The Montford Stage & Dance Academy in Kingston, teaching Tap and Street Dance.

After graduating Miss Vicky worked professionally as a dancer and taught for Dynamic Performing Arts and Dynamic Tots as well as establishing herself as the Ballet and Dance teacher at Pennthorpe School. This was where VMA first started as Saturday morning classes in the village of Rudgwick. Vicky continues to teach Ballet and Dance at Pennthorpe School, Downsend Pre-Prep, Glenesk School and Billingshurst Primary.

Vicky loves teaching dance to all ages and thoroughly enjoys sharing her knowledge in dance, drama & singing to others.

Vicky, like all VMA Dance teachers, holds her full DBS enhanced disclosure, Public Liability Insurance and First Aid certificate. She also continues to develop her teaching by attending CPD courses and updates her Safeguarding and Child Protection Policies regularly.

Miss Vikki Mead

Teacher

Vikki qualified with a BA (Honours) in Contemporary Dance at Trinity Laban in 2015 and completed her MA in Performance as part of Mapdance Company at Chichester University in 2016.

Vikki collaborates and performs alongside world class musicians from the Bernardi Music Group at various venues across West Sussex. She enjoys the chance to be creative and make works with varying stimuli and environments. Vikki is looking forward to performing at Leonardslee this coming May.

Teaching through the means of dance has been a stimulating and rewarding process and has furthered her love of working with children. Working with VMA for over 3 years has been a rewarding experience as it has enabled her to see the children develop and grow as dancers and people.

Miss Cairo Hayler

Teacher

Cairo began her time at VMA Dance in 2016 as a student in our Teen contemporary classes. Later that year she began assisting Miss Vicky with the Junior Street and Ballet classes on a Friday. She auditioned and joined our Elite Competition Team in 2017 and in 2018 Cairo joined VMA’s first ever intake on the Dance Leadership Level 2 course.

Cairo has continued to assist and choreograph for VMA ever since.

In 2021 she completed her Level 3 Dance teaching qualifications and began her journey to become a VMA dance teacher.

Cairo joined the VMA team as a teacher to our Friday Junior, Inter and Senior classes in April 2022 and has also taken on teaching at our Saturday school.

Cairo is enjoying choreographing for our upcoming showcase and we can’t wait to see her fabulous routines.

This yer she is embarking on her Level 4 course and is super excited to be relaunching VMA Dance Rudgwick.

Miss Gemma Versteeg

Musical Theatre Teacher

Gemma started in am-dram at a young age and still performs in local productions.  She belonged to the Man in the Moon drama group and through college won awards in choral speaking.  She joined VMA as a teacher in 2019, teaching the Musical Theatre classes, which gave her a chance to utilise her knowledge of child development gained through management of nursery schools, after school and holiday clubs. Gemma holds a NVQ in playwork and a diploma in child psychology. She also used her knowledge to finish her bachelor's open degree with her final project focusing on child psychology.

'There are children who come in and don't want to talk in their first lesson, who months later stand up and sign and act in front of a room full of people.  It is great to see these children blossom.'
